Now with almost half a million visitors coming from all over the world, Milan Design Week has evolved from staid business market place into a global carnival of design, an evolution that has been the departure point for our most ambitious show to date: MULTIPLEX. Located in a huge 840 seater plush Cinema and a historic Galleria on via Manzoni, MULTIPLEX is a 2-storey exhibition that takes visitors on a fully immersive experience themed around Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Tom says: Milan in April turns into the Glastonbury of Design a huge explosion of ideas, colours, shapes and functions, a massive influx of design obsessives all seeking the latest ideas. This year we have acknowledged the need for a place to stop, to refuel, to catch up on the newest concepts and latest designs and share the full excit Galleria and Cinema so that we can fully embrace the delicate balance of commerce, culture and entertainment that makes Milan the best Design Festival of the year.

NEW COLLECTIONS SHOWING FOR THE FIRST TIME AT MULTIPLEX

In the year of Euroluce, Tom Dixon is celebrating luminosity with a series of pendants which are another leap forward in their deep investigation of futuristic optics. New collections include: CUT a faceted light with a space-age mirror finish when off and an endless repeated reflection when switched on and TUBE, an op art cylinder with laser cut piercings.

Following the ever-growing popularity of  beautifully distorted MELT pendants, Tom Dixon  introduced a new addition to the family: MELT Surface. Squashed, squeezed, distorted and moulded into a flatter blob, MELT’s extraordinary luminosity has found new applications on wall, ceiling or floor.

Also under the spotlight at Multiplex: its VETERANS – including S Chair, Bird Chaise Lounge, Pylon Chair and Jack Lamp. Initially manufactured in Tom’s London metalwork shop many moons ago, these instantly recognisable  designs are finally brought back home. Re-engineered, recoloured and reinvigorated for relaunch, their graphic, pop-art silhouettes feel just as fresh today as they did yesterday.

And finally, after years of experiments in metallic, Tom Dixon has gone a bit soft with  new SUPER TEXTURE collection, first foray into weaving, sewing and embellishing where they look at extreme textures of velvets, boucles and knits. The new range includes cushions, throws and blankets in six different textures (Soft, Deco, Boucle, Fleck, Check, Line)
