PANGAIA launch their new Pastel Collection: With colours echoing their much loved Botanical Dye range, The Pastel Collection is made using Environmentally Friendly Dyes and a recycled water system.
The Pastel collection is your everyday basics uniform, in a collection of on-trend summer pastels. When we first launched our Botanical Dye Collection, we used natural dyes derived from food waste, plants, fruits, and vegetables. Since your demand has grown so rapidly, we’ve begun to see that our Botanical Dyes are in fact quite delicate, proving challenging to scale-up. As we know you loved these soft shades so much, we have been hard at work to find a solution to manufacture more, responsibly. We decided to shift the dyeing process to ensure the color of the product is balanced and consistent when producing larger units. This way, you can still enjoy the soft shades until the Botanical Dye technology is improved.
To reflect the transition to a more stable dye and honor our commitment to transparency and constant evolution, this range is now called ‘The Pastel Collection’. These will now be called Matcha Green, Rose Pink, Earl Grey, Plum Purple, and Mineral Red. These colours were created using Environmentally Friendly Dyes and a recycled water system. The method uses a dyeing process with low water consumption and treatment of textile effluents, aiming to reuse water during the washing processes. This is a highly sustainable and environmentally friendly dyeing process which reduces the toxic impact on the planet.
Where most other brands use around 10-30% recycled cotton, PANGAIA uses a much higher 45% in their collection, mixed with 55% organic cotton. This is one of the highest grades of recycled cotton currently available on the market. They also choose organic cotton where most companies still use recycled polyester — a critical pollutant due to microplastics.
