NAUGHTY SUNDAY was established in 2016, combining the New Oriental’s elements and Chinese culture. Combining the fashion trend with functionality for consumer. The inspiration from the Eastern culture, history, religious, and mix the modern with the tradition together. In 2018 the brand had collaboration with talented designer brand “Just In XX” and National Palace Museum. Each styles has it’s own background stories, and the collection had been honored to show up in NYFW. Moreover,  creative team established a limited edition for Chinese movie industry giant H.BROTHERS Entertainment Group that was sold out within a week. We had a chance to talk to the designers at the Emerging Talents Press Day Milan about their successful story.

SNM: Guy! Congrats on the amazing collection. Please share with us what triggered your decision to make sunglasses?

Alan: As we all know, most of the existing eye wear brands are Western brands. There are few coming from Japan. When we came up with the idea of Naught Sunday,  we wanted to combine Eastern culture, history and modern sharp design together.

SNM: Why did you choose Taiwan for manufacture the sunglasses?

Alan: Right now our eyewear is made in Shenzhen China, where the biggest eyewear supplier chain in the world is based. If you would like to know a gossip, many well-known brands actually also made their parts from there and assembly in Europe or America.

SNM: Tell us more about the concept behind the name? Actually how did you come up with the name of the brand?

Alan: We wanted something new, fresh. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of sunglasses? My mind says Sunday.  That’s how the NAUGHTY SUNDAY was born.

SNM: How the accessories market in Taiwan is different today from European market? Is it less or more competitive?

Alan: Let’s be honest and realistic. Taiwanese accessory market is not  as developed as the European one, and has its own trend circles, that may seem slower. Therefore, our brand is targeting  the global high-fashion enthusiasts. When we design our eyewear we definitely consider the latest trends from Milan, Paris, Shanghai, New York, and Tokyo.

SNM: If you see someone put their sunglasses with their lens down, for example, unprotected, do you say or do something?

Alan: Well, it’s quite hurtful when I see someone does not know how to protect an eyewear, and certainly, I will give a piece of advice and promote

SNM: Do you have any projects lined up for the future that you can share with our readers?

Alan: Since we are a new brand, we love being mysterious. Just for you Spy, we will give a little sneak peek of what is to come. We are getting ready to launch new food-inspired accessory line.It will also be a unique blend of different elements related to Eastern culture, history and our traditions. We are looking forward to sharing with you guys.
