While traveling around Indonesia, diving into a new culture, we had a chance to discover new inspiring fashion designers. Contemporary and minimalistic feel of batik in designs of Sejauh Mata Memandang was one of the most fascinating discovery.

Humbra Ikat collection was inspired by the Island of Sumba, its rolling hills and colors. With deepest respect to the ancient techniques and patterns the designer weaves own stories to connect with the past, as a way forward, conserving cultural heritage, following the slow process of adding colors and earthy textures to the final ikat.

One of our stops was Yogyakarta city to see the famous temple Borobudur, supposedly the world’s largest single collection of Buddhist reliefs and sculptures that became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. This temple is a must for its architecture, art, religion, history and scenery.

The trees and flowers and fruits on the Borobudur walls, tell stories of Java Island. These plants gave life to the people and adventures and love tales depicted in the Mahayana. They flourish timelessly, from then till now and hopefully forever more. Borobudur inspired Sejauh Mata Memandang’s Flora collection.

Have a look at the latest collection Baur, that was presented 2 weeks ago in Jakarta. Every piece is made of recycled fabric.
