Another brand that we discovered in Jakarta was launched in 2013. Bateeq is an Indonesian fashion brand that offers a very contemporary, fashion-forward take on batik through their designs clothing. They are known for their innovative motifs, providing a very modern edge to a centuries-old craft to create effortless ready-to-wear.
What’s interesting is that the brand always looking at innovation, specifically that which is good for the environment. In 2020 Bateeq started to recycle the cotton waste from another company, making their own Lurik fabric, woven by traditional artisans throughout Klaten, Jawa Tengah.
