In the past three years, Delpozo has been re-ignited through the forward-facing vision of its creative director, Josep Font. Now, Font feels the time is right to look back; to pay attention to Delpozo’s heritage in order to harness the craftsmanship that is at the heart of the House. The result; the Delpozo accessories line. Bows are a key design code of this 40-year-old ‘prêt-à-couture’ House. In Spring 2014, Font took the first step to using these for accessories with his bow sandal, now established as an iconic style, available every season. Today, Font takes a bigger step with a range of shoes and handbags to fall in love with; each of them unmistakably Delpozo.

For handbags, he references his own architectural training with its emphasis on proportion and line. He re-examines the most practical working bags of the past in order to reimagine them for the multitasking modern woman. The Delpozo Benedetta’s Bag is a fresh interpretation of a classic; both easy to hold and a joy to behold.

The Benedetta bag made its debut at the recent runway show. It comes in three sizes and in many variations; from traditional leather to vibrant glitter. An organic raffia version combines old-world skills and cutting-edge technology through laser-cut flowers which are then hand- embroidered. Each bag has over 100 petals stitched together one-by-one.

Superb craftsmanship with a modern twist underpins the collection. Only the finest materials and techniques are used. Polished calfskin bags have butter soft napa interiors and of course, the intricate embroideries for which the House is renowned. Colour comes in unexpected combinations, inspired by the luminous palette of the SS16 ready-to-wear. The Bo Tyng bag and the Gret combine functionality with beauty. Font takes inspiration from the petals of a flower, in everything from the detailing of a handle, the volume in the base of a bag, even a zip finishing. For evening, the Gret appears in embroidered raffia, a combination of the ornate and the raw found in the natural world.

Handbag hardware is strong yet delicate, mirroring the Delpozo DNA. The futuristic floral bud, plated in 0.5 microns of gold, appears as clasps and closures across the bag and shoe lines.
