For the Prada Women’s Fall/Winter 2016 fashion show, Prada once again collaborates with artist Christophe Chemin on the collection’s prints. The Nature of women is extremely complex and ineffable: it is full of textures and colors. Like a Russian doll, placed inside one another, or a shell-like structure expanding, it is a vast territory.

The French revolutionary calendar, arranged after the calendar used by the Ancient Egyptians, was made of twelve months, which were given new names based on Nature. All feminine names, principally having to do with the prevailing weather: Vendémiaire, Brumaire, Frimaire, Nivôse, Pluviôse, Ventôse, Germinal, Floréal, Prairial, Messidor, Thermidor, Fructidor.

The appealing beauty of each word used for a month, its simple poetry: there is something there deeply romantic, and surprisingly modern. The allegory of women related to the structure of Nature and Time, as an Elegy.

With this second round of commissioned artwork for Prada (first round was Menswear FW 2016-17), Christophe Chemin is taking us on a journey deep inside the architecture of women soul: down to the Interior Castle where the fairest of the Seasons unfold in grandiose splendor.
