As a graduate from IAAD (The Institute of Applied Art & Design), he studied Product Design where he gained the skills to turn a concept into a prototype. However, it was in high school where he says,

“I really began to develop my dexterity and creativity – the ingredients that made up the fountain of my career”.

The inspiration Alessandro received was from his younger years spending time with his mom and her job in a boutique selling shoes and leather accessories. It was then slowly and gradually he developed the concept of his bags come to life.

Finding it a challenge for every collection it only pushed him harder to create a product with a new look that stands out in the streets. For Alessandro,

“The two pillars of good design have always been aesthetics and functionality.”

His first collection is called SAND, inspired by the sand and the movement and waves that form in the desert sand created by the motion of the wind. We all have seen nature create these beautiful patterns and becomes very mesmerizing. It is what inspired the creation of the geometric patterns that you see through out the whole collection. It is more than just a pattern with a strong aesthetic value, but a pattern of experience.

These are bags you will not find anywhere because the process and time it takes to create each unique bag is an authentic artisanal process and technique. While, Alessandro does not plan on opening a retail store anytime soon due to the demand of online shopping, a potential store he found would best suit the brand would be in Los Angeles. The future for Alessandro Gatto Bags is bright as he looks toward implementing technology in the design of his bags. Alessandro hopes to achieve opening up his own headquarters where he can design and produce his products in the future where he can work hard and still enjoy a glass of good Italian wine.
