We’ve all heard that saying “it’s not about the destination it’s about the journey”, in the case of Rhythm of The Nights – SAVIA, it’s about both! Our destination was Las Calates where the breathtaking performance took place. Our starting point was the cruise port of Puerto Vallarta where we met our lovely tour guide Erick of Vallarta Adventures. The journey was the sunset cruise, beautiful views of Puerto Vallarta and a candlelit dinner followed by the main performance, Rhythm of The Nights – SAVIA.
Our evening began enjoying cocktails aboard the Sunset Cruise through Banderas Bay. With the sun setting on one side and the city lights of Puerto Vallarta on the other, we already felt the night was going to be a magical one. Just a quick forty five minute trip to the “island” of Las Caletas, we arrived to the jungle lit by three thousand torches and candles giving us a magnificent “island” greeting. We were greeted by SAVIA dancers and drummers who hint at the experience that is waiting. Once we set foot on Las Caletas we were guided through its candlelit jungle to dinner.
The dining area is surrounded by jungle overlooking the sunset on the ocean’s horizon. For the meal Vallarta Adventures offers a variety of salads, rice, beans, meat, pasta, and Mexican coffee for dessert with pastries, there’s something for everyone! Food is so delicious you’ll be happy it’s buffet style.
Dinner is followed by the one and only SAVIA, it’s “An explosion of color, sound and spectacle, SAVIA tells a powerful story about the persistence of the human spirit using colorful imagery, music, dance and movement” Vallarta adventure says. Set at an amphitheater in the heart of a tropical rainforest near a crumbling pyramid, “Rhythm of the Nights is a celebration of spectacular acrobatic skill, pulsating rhythms, vibrant dance and amazing costumes”. Once the lights dimmed and the music started we were hit with SAVIA, we were mesmerized from start to finish. SAVIA is a show one really must see for themselves to fully gauge the greatness of their performance.
Rhythm of The Nights was created by Gilles Ste-Croix co-founder of Cirque Du Soleil, a performance that will leave you amazed! Vallarta Adventures says, “His cast of magnificent dancers, astonishing fire jugglers and dexterous acrobats make our secluded outdoor amphitheater come alive at night” and “It really is a great way to experience the history and culture of Mexico”.
