A precious uniqueness, charismatic craftsmanship, minimalism that unites each of her collection inspired by not just her environment but by the outside elements and also by the things unseen.

This how we like to describe in words the jewelry of Chrystel, the French designer who has been well prepared through education and talent to create some of out of this world jewelleries for her brand 2XC.

Her artistic formation, base on traditional techniques working exclusively in sterling silver with finish options of natural silver, bleached, golden, oxidized, and golden rose, reaching her well defined personal style and shapes. She prides herself on paying attention to details and all pieces are handmade.

We spoke to the uniquely talented artist. She took us through her journey and about her new collection.

SNM: Tell us about yourself and your career?

Chrystel: I am a Swiss jewelry designer. Following my artistic studies, my journey was difficult. I was sorely lacking in experience in the field, and there was little work in my branch. After various professional experiences, I finally opened my first jewelry store in 2012, in Neuchâtel, where I offered my collection as well as other designers from around the world. I also make bespoke jewelry, such as wedding rings and engagement rings.

SNM: When did you first realize that you wanted to pursue a career as a jewelry designer?

Chrystel: At the age of 15, I knew that I was destined for a career related to an artistic profession. It was after a professional internship that I decided what my path was. My goal in life has always been very clear. I wanted to be an independent designer and to have my collection, my brand. In the end, I don’t care about the medium because I like all forms of creation. Jewelry was one choice among many.

SNM: What is the meaning of the name 2XC?

Chrystel: 2XC is just my initials, offered as a mathematical formula (twice “C”). My first name was Chrystel and my name was Clément. I already signed my works in this way throughout my artistic studies. I like to use this formula mode also as a slogan, for example “(2xC) = the creative equation”.

SNM:  At the beginning of your career, you were an intern in a jewelry design boutique. What was the most valuable thing you learned from your first internship?

Chrystel: I learned there that we have to stay in tune with who we are. That sometimes means no to certain projects that are not like us. However, this is the only way sometimes that allows us to flourish and stay consistent with who we are, our desires, and our dreams. You have to know how to give up in order to win.

·SNM: What is the inspiration behind your creations?

Chrystel: I like to define my universe as being a “gothic romance”.

I have always been drawn to dark universes. I prefer trees in winter and foggy weather. But I also like the purity of the flowers, which I find even more beautiful withered. I also like birds, because I envy their freedom.

I am also very inspired by architecture and the Art Deco movement. I like the angular shapes, the sharp edges.

SNM: How do you want women to feel when they wear your jewelry?

Chrystel: Free to be themselves.

SNM:  Tell us about your latest collection?

Chrystel: My latest collection is EMPIRE II. It’s a more spicy revisit of the EMPIRE collection. This collection was inspired by the architecture of the Empire State Building during my stay in New York.

SNM:  Where can we buy the collection?

Chrystel: In our online shop or in our boutique.  http://2xc.ch/Anderson
