MARNI BALLHAUS
An invite to discover Cumbia, an ancient Colombian dance for couples, Marni has put its own individual slant on it, customizing the traditional full circular skirts worn by Cumbia dancers and the knotted scarves the men wear around their neck.Cumbia’s colorful performance directed by choreographer Susanna Beltrami was accompanied by a live performance of voice and percussions exclusively arranged for the event, the pieces emphasize the African roots of this dance, mixing Spanish songs and contemporary sounds.Marni Ballhaus form the backdrop for the presentation of Marni’s new home furnishing accessories range, made of metal, wood and hand-woven PVC cord. The items in limited edition have all been made in Colombia by a group of women who have gained independence and freedom through work. The skirts made in the iconic Marni fabrics are on sale exclusively on Marni.com from April 14th, while children’s sizes will be available and on sale directly during the event. Through this initiative Marni reaffirms its commitment to charity initiatives: a portion of sales of the design items will be donated to the Vimala Association (www.ass-vimala.org), allowing the supply of food for the schools of the Tibetan refugee centers of Bylakuppe and Gurupura, part of the Central School for Tibetans.
