It’s 10:30 a.m. and in Terminal 2C, gate n°5, of Paris-Cambon airport, under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, a row of check-in desks line the runway for Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2016 Ready-to-Wear collection. Passengers and Chanel Airlines hostesses parade some 99 looks.

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 17.37.53Karl Lagerfeld offers us an ultra feminine wardrobe that combines comfort and elegance, as well as chic and functional accessories, in a palette spanning blue (from sky through to midnight), white, red, metallic gray and black, as well as prints. Tweed, denim, leather, lace, guipure, silk and ottoman are used to dress silhouettes based on strict, straight lines or with full skirts worn over fluid pants. Void of a collar, pockets, braids and buttons, the iconic Chanel suit becomes “the absolute suit” – revisited as a blueprint and yet instantly recognizable.

Karl Lagerfeld plays with the codes of the sky on knits and silks adorned with departure-board prints, arrow signage, and airplane motifs. Sporting double ponytails, wedge sandals with luminous soles or open booties in silver leather and transparent plastic, these travelers show off the latest must-have wheelie suitcase: the “Coco Case”.

For evening, wide skirts and pants come paired with jackets and tank tops embroidered with cabin-inspired silver embroidery, tacked with grosgrain ribbons.
